HDMI(High Definition Multimedia Interface)是数字高清多媒体接口，其协议由Sony, Hitachi, Thomson (RCA), Philips, Matsushita (Panasonic), Toshiba 和 Silicon Image合作开发完成，基于Silicon image 的TMDS技术传输数据，能向下兼容DVI(Digital Visual Interface)。
随着电视的分辨率逐步提升，高清电视越来越普及，HDMI接口主要就是用于传输高质量、无损耗的数字音视频信号到高清电视, 最高带宽达到5Gbps。
美国FCC 规定2005 年7 月1 日起，所有数字电视周边产品都必须内建HDMI或DVI。 |

DVI---全称为（Digita Visual Interface），它的出现原来有段故事，数起来要回到1997年，当时为了迎接数码平面显示器时代的来临，美国Video Electronics Standards Association，早已洞悉[D---D---D]影像传送的重要性，遂提出要有新影像传送P&D标准，即是Plug and Display standard，能够以单一端子便可以传送数码或模拟讯号，就好像电脑其它端子例如USB或Firewire等。
然而要整个业界甚至全世界统一新影像传送格式，不单有很多人为及政法因素，在技术上及成本上亦困难重重。然而最终都达成协议，推出DVI格式，而这种格式的好处，正是输送数码影像之余，乃然可以兼容传统模拟式的VGA，SVGA，XVGA讯号。 |
